Help Preserve History by Joining the Chimney Rock Volunteer Team

For over 20 years, Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA), a non-profit 501 (c3), and its volunteers have shared the story of the Ancestral Puebloan people with thousands of visitors through tours and special programs at Chimney Rock National Monument. Historic places like Chimney Rock reflect the past while enriching our future, but without the Chimney Rock volunteers CRIA would be unable to provide the interpretive program that keeps Chimney Rock’s history alive.

Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) provides visitors to Chimney Rock National Monument with a meaningful, enjoyable educational experience through interpretive tours and special programs and to the long term preservation of Chimney Rock National Monument

CRIA must recruit new volunteers each year to meet increased demand in visitation and to replace volunteers who leave the area or can no longer volunteer. Without the volunteers’ skills and valuable time, it would be impossible to keep this local, non-profit, interpretive program viable and  …..

To help community members learn about the exciting volunteer opportunities at Chimney Rock National Monument, CRIA will host two open houses. The first will take place on Friday, February 22nd from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the EcoLuxe building at The Springs Resort and Spa located at 165 Hot Springs Blvd. The second will take place at the Ruby Sisson Library on March 22nd from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. There will be a host of CRIA volunteers on hand who are eager to introduce guests to the variety of roles that support this unique program and the flexibility in level of commitment. Some of the volunteer positions include: Visitor Cabin Host, Mesa Host, Tour Guide and Maintenance Crew.

CRIA offers a great, in-depth training program in a fun environment to anyone interested in joining our amazing team of volunteers.  This year volunteer training will take place on April 26th at the PLPOA Vista Club House at 230 Port Avenue in Pagosa Springs, CO.

For more information about the Monument, calendar of events, and volunteer opportunities, please stop by the Chimney Rock Open House and enjoy desserts with our enthusiastic volunteers. Beverages will be available for purchase at The Phoenix Lounge.  We are very excited for the upcoming season starting May 15th and want to encourage the community to join us!
