Don’t miss the last Geology Tour of the season this Wednesday, August 1st. This program has received rave reviews! CRIA Rick Stinchfield leads a 1.5 hour guided tour explores local geology and its relationship to the daily lives of the ancestral Puebloans who lived at Chimney Rock. Rock types impact structure, pottery, tools and soil productivity; geological processes determine the landscape and at Chimney Rock, play a central role in climate. This tour leaves the lower parking lot promptly at 8:30am (the gate at HWY 151 will open at 8:10am for guests to check-in) and it includes the climb up to the Chacoan Great House. No prior knowledge of geology is needed. Reservations are encouraged as walk-ins are accepted based on availability
