CHIMNEY ROCK
-- SPECIAL EVENTS --

Chimney Rock Special Events give participants an opportunity to experience first-hand the environment, culture and lifestyle of the early people of Chimney Rock. Early people developed sophisticated skills to utilize the natural resources in the area for food, medicine, tools, clothing, baskets and pottery.
Workshop fees include all materials unless otherwise indicated. Instructors for each workshop have extensive experience in their topics. Pre-paid advance reservations are required for workshops by the dates indicated. Fees are not refundable after deadline dates.
Weather in Colorado can change by the moment. Workshops will be held unless weather is very severe, in which case paid workshop participants will be notified. Lodging and meals are not included. Please bring a sack lunch as food is not available at the site. For multiple-day workshops, lodging is available in nearby Pagosa Springs, and camping is available at Ute Campground, just 4 miles from Chimney Rock.

Puebloan Pottery Workshop
In a Chimney Rock special workshop with Greg Wood (Instructor's website at http://www.ancientarts.org), participants will replicate a Pueblo III Mesa Verde, black-on-white, organically painted, pottery mug in the same manner as the ancient Ancestral Puebloans may have done a thousand years ago. You will hand form, burnish, decorate, and trench kiln fire using only prehistoric methods, thereby gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of craftsmanship, design, and prehistoric technology that are required in creating and firing this ancient pottery.
