The Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) has been honored by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation as one of eleven national 2009 Preserve America Stewards. Preserve America Stewards are officially designated and recognized for their exemplary volunteer efforts to care for historic resources around the country. The Preserve America Stewards designation for CRIA is as follows:

Since 1988, the Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) has partnered with the U.S. Forest Service to interpret and protect the unique historic resources of the Chimney Rock Archaeological Area. Through CRIA's Chimney Rock Interpretive Program, volunteers conduct guided tours, monitor and maintain sites, and educate the public on the importance of protecting archaeological resources.

The Chimney Rock Interpretive Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, elects a board of trustees at the annual meeting in the fall. The elected board of trustees in turn elects officers and holds regular monthly meetings. The 2010 CRIA board and officers are:
